Darren loves cartoons. You name it: from Mighty Mouse to Charlie Brown. His favorite cartoon strip is “Calvin and Hobbs” by Bill Watterson. When Darren grows up, he wants to be as good as Bill.
This book is a combination of his love for cartoons and his concern for today’s church youth. The candy of today’s church isn’t lasting them through high school and certainly not into college, where they need it most. Teens can handle the sound teaching of the Bible, not just the stories. They need the meat of the Word to prepare them for the spiritual attacks they will face due to false teachers, our government, and our school system. To survive the onslaught our teens need a hero: Jesus Christ! They need to know who He is and why He is the center of the Gospel message.
Zack and Gannan illustrate this for today’s youth as they apply the gospel to their lives. These characters will show youth how badly they need Jesus despite how badly the world treats Him.
